Auto Expo 2018: Tata Motors Teases New SUV And Premium Hatchback Again

With what are quickly becoming two of the most awaited concept launches at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo, the Tata premium hatchback and new SUV have been teased once again. While we had originally expected Tata Motors to showcase both these vehicles as production ready models, these will in fact be concepts which in turn will showcase a close similarity to the production versions that are expected sometime later this year. The new Tata premium hatchback and SUV have been teased in various design bits along with new teasers that showcase a new future design language for the interior too.

The interior image that was tweeted recently by Pratap Bose, Chief of Design at Tata showcased new generation tech that completely eliminates the need for buttons. This is similar to the tech that is being used by the likes of Land Rover recently with the help if capacitive touch modules integrated into the panel itself. The interior also showcases a new matte grey design language along with high quality light wood grain and equally high quality leather. The interior also showcases the centre console that has a built in grab handle. The touch sensitive buttons on the panel showcase options for the home screen (probably on the touchscreen infotainment display) along with hazard lights, climate control and lock/unlock buttons.

Apart from the interior, Tata Motors have also teased the headlamp clusters for both the hatchback and the SUV. While the hatchback seems to get a more production ready LED twin cluster headlamp, technology that is quite common on high end cars today, the SUV is a bit more concept like and features an LED strip for the headlamp cluster. However, the overall stance and design with the thin and aggressive headlamps that merge into the high gloss grille and tuck under the hoodline does look very cool. The hatchback also features a separate daytime running light cluster just under the headlamps.

In addition to these two concepts, Tata Motors will also showcase a sportier version of the Tigor subcompact sedan with larger wheels, more aggressive bumpers and a set of larger wheels. Tata will also be showcasing two new commercial concepts - a smaller van like vehicle and a larger tractor trailer type vehicle, both of which should be the highlights for the Tata Motors commercial vehicle stand.
